Imaginarium Theater
Last updated 2026-09-09
Imaginarium Theater is a permanent combat gameplay and special domain challenge in the Theater Lobby (previously known as the Mysterious Room) of Mondstadt Library, Mondstadt. Wolfy is the concierge of the library and was created by a mage.
To unlock Imaginarium Theater, the player must reach Adventure Rank 35 and complete the World Quest Unbegun, Unending Story.
Overview
Cast
In order to participate in Imaginarium Theater, the player must provide characters to use. Every stage requires four stage members, even if the player can complete the stage with less. Each character has two Vigor and one will be consumed after each stage. Once both Vigor units have been exhausted, the character can no longer be used for the rest of the run. Vigor cannot be restored normally, though there is a potential to have it restored under certain Mystery Cache options.
Players can choose from one of five difficulties, of which the strength of the enemies, amount of bosses and acts increase with higher difficulties. All characters that intend to be used in the season must be at least a minimum level of 60 (for Easy and Medium) or 70 (Hard and higher) in order to participate.
Like the Spiral Abyss, once the selection has been finalized, the stats and levels of the characters given will stay the same; if any changes have to be made (such as swapping artifacts, or leveling talents), a new run must be started. Characters in Imaginarium Theater will always start with full HP and Energy or equivalent.
To help players choose cast members, all characters are assigned Character Roles, either as an On-Field or Off-Field. Some stages will also have various recommendations, such as a specific element or trait. While players are not required to follow these aids, players should be mindful of what the next stage entails, as some stages can have hazards and others enemies that require specific tactics to defeat them quicker.
Every season selects three random elements which is the primary characters the player will be using for the season. These elements further determine the Brilliant Blessing events and will often revolve around Elemental Reactions, which are key to clearing a level quickly, as they provide many effects such as additional instances of DMG or RES reduction. This occasionally includes pairs of elements that do not have any corresponding Elemental Reaction (such as Dendro and Cryo).
Principal Cast
Principal Cast members are the characters who can participate in the current Act.
The Principal Cast begins with the initial lineup of Opening Characters. Players must choose between using their own (if they have them) or the Trial version of the character; Opening Characters are not available as Supporting Cast members. The season selects three random 4-star and 5-star characters to be offered.
If the player possesses an Opening Character, their HP, ATK and DEF are increased by 20% for the duration of the season, which applies both inside and outside the theater.
Alternate Cast
Alternate Cast members are used to replenish the Principal Cast. The amount the player must provide depends on the difficulty selected, and they must be of a minimum level in order to participate. Generally, these characters must be of a specific element (of which three elements are required).
Along with the mandatory elements, each season also allows four Special Guest Characters. These characters do not require the specific element needed by the Theater, though unlike Principal Cast members, the player must have them or select them as a Supporting Cast member in order for them to be used. These characters are generally recommended to be used early on if they are given early, as they do not benefit from the unique Elemental Reactions of the season. If given late, they can be used as fodder if the stage can be completed with less characters.
Supporting Cast
Supporting Cast characters are used to assist Friends in their performances. Up to 7 characters can be set and can be used to assist up to a total of 15 times each season. Additionally, the character selected as the Supporting Cast cannot be on the Alternate Cast at the same time, or the game will ask the player to pick between theirs or their friend(s).
All characters, except the Traveler, can be assigned a Supporting Cast member.
Fantasia Flowers
Fantasia Flowers are earned by completing challenges in battle and are used to trigger events.
Events
After each Battle Event is completed, the player is awarded Fantasia Flowers and can pick one of two Alternate Cast members to join the Principal Cast. Three can be offered through certain Mystery Cache options, along with a reroll through said option. These Alternate Cast members will always come with two units of Vigor.
Up to five potential events can be selected; Climatic Showdowns will always consist of the boss stage itself with 4 random events. Outside of these milestones, up to 3 Battle Events and 2 random events are provided. Rarely, an "Elite Assault" or "High-Pressure Defense" alternative may be offered, which is a slightly more difficult stage that awards higher Fantasia Flowers on completion.
Random events (anything outside a Battle Event) require Fantasia Flowers to use, and brings players back to the selection menu once the decision is finalized. The player can reroll the events if they need to.
If the player is stuck on stage (due to undesirable lineups), they have the option to rewind their performance back to the end of the last Climatic Showdown (or start of the play if one has not been reached yet), resetting progress back to that checkpoint. This can be done a limited amount of times, and if the player continues to have undesirable lineups, they will need to finalize and reset the performance.
- Battle Events give Fantasia Flowers.
- Companion Events invite characters to the Principal Cast by spending Fantasia Flowers, of which two types are offered:
- Companion: Random and Companion: Select cost less but has less variety due to a smaller pool, especially if one element is lacking in characters.
- Companion: Invitation costs more but allows for greater variety due to having a larger pool to choose from.
- Wondrous Boon Events grant combat buffs to the party in exchange for Fantasia Flowers. Wondrous Boon Events were replaced with Brilliant Blessing Events in Version 5.0.
- Brilliant Blessing Events grants buffs related to Elemental Reactions in exchange for Fantasia Flowers.
- Mystery Cache Events grant benefits related to Events or to the Cast in exchange for Fantasia Flowers in either Standard or Rare formats. Certain Events may have negative effects as well.
- Lunar Challenge Events appear twice in Lunar Mode as soon as the first Boss stage is cleared. However, it is recommended players attempt the stages after Act 9 is completed.
- Unlike Battle Events, Lunar Challenge Events can be abandoned without rewinding or consuming Vigor.
Fantastical Blessings
The six designated characters in the initial lineup will gain Fantastical Blessings outside of the Imaginarium Theater challenge.
Blessing Levels
Blessing Level is increased by obtaining Brilliant Blessings or bringing in additional characters. Every character added to the Alternate Cast above the required number increases Blessing Level by 2, and obtaining or upgrading any Brilliant Blessing increases Blessing Level by 1. During performance challenges, it increases the following attributes:
- Max HP by .
- ATK by .
- DEF by .
- Elemental Mastery by .
The buff effects received by Special Guest Stars are increased by 100%.
Toy Medals
Toy Medals are obtained by completing certain Acts and can be exchanged at Wolfy for photo poses called Thespian Tricks.
Stella
Stella are obtained by completing the Star Challenge in each Act. There are three ways to obtain Stella, depending on what the level's requirements are:
- Defeat enemies in a specific time
- Defeat a specific number of enemies
- Prevent the Ley Line Monolith from falling below a specific health threshold
The player is given the option to reattempt the stage during or after the level is cleared if they want to obtain the level's Stella.
They are displayed on the Profile.
Obtaining a specific amount of Stella is required for the When the Stars Shine achievement series, and every 3 Stella obtained in a run gives various artifact-related rewards. Prior to the June 2025 season, Stella only served as a performance measurement, granting no additional rewards.

3. After Friends change their available Supporting Cast characters or make changes to their builds, it takes time for those changes to take effect.
A certain witch used magic to build this place, granting a different sort of life to things that were once mere fantastical stories.
During each challenge cycle, your best performance record for that period will be recorded.
For challenge records where the same Act was reached, priority will be given to the one made at the higher difficulty.
If the records were made at the same difficulty, the challenge during which you obtained more Stellas will be prioritized.
If the above is still completely identical, the most recent of these challenge records will be recorded.
After clearing an Arcana Challenge, and completing Act 10 of your performance, you can obtain additional rewards. After completing all Arcana Challenges, you can draw Lunar Arcana after finishing your Act 10 performance.
The Lunar Arcana that can be drawn will be determined to some degree by the characters taking part in the performance. You can only draw 1 Lunar Arcanum per Imaginarium Theater season, so choose wisely.

Trivia
- When interacting with a wardrobe in the back left of the room, the player is prompted to say "Perhaps we'll meet a lion in there...", which is a reference to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
- While interacting with a desk in the back right of the room, the player is prompted to say "Linger a while, thou art so fair...", which is a quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's rendition of Faust.
- The moving painting in the front right of the room features the titular Boar Princess from The Boar Princess.
- The "Madame Mage" who created the Imaginarium Theater is likely Barbeloth. Wolfy describes her as someone who "can see the path of fate in the starry reflections," and in Unbegun, Unending Story he states that Madame Mage's friends are all mages; Barbeloth is a known visionary and member of the Hexenzirkel. Additionally, the Imaginarium Theater's Visionary Mode might be a reference to Barbeloth.
