Stellaron

Stellarons are mysterious objects that spread across the universe by Xipe, the Aeon of Harmony, as THEIR "Harmonic Cancer," though most in the universe incorrectly attribute them to Nanook.^[1] Due to its spread like a cancerous growth, they were nicknamed the Cancer of All Worlds by the Interastral Peace Corporation.^[2] They are considered seeds of disaster which cause massive changes to civilizations and ecosystems, and result in the appearance of Fragmentum.^[3]

Description

Overview

According to Herta and Asat Pramad, Stellarons are a type of lifeform with a special property that tethers them to a certain Path or Aeon's power.^[4][5] They respond to the desires of the world to which it is tethered. However, the cost of fulfilling those desires often brings great disaster to the world. There is no known way to destroy a Stellaron; currently, the most that can be done is contain its energy.^[6]

Stellarons have been known to be capable of communication with a particular person of interest, an example being Cocolia, likely in order to carry out the desires of the world.^[7][8] The Trailblazer, who holds such a Stellaron within their body, is able to hear its voice as well.^[7]

The Stellaron Hunters, who serve an enigmatic individual known as Elio, scour the universe for Stellarons and have obtained several. Their intentions are currently unclear — Kafka appears to know the Trailblazer's background and implanted a Stellaron in their body for an unknown reason.^[9]

Melustanin, the world where Idrila the Beauty ascended,^[10] is the ground zero for the Stellaron disaster.^[11] Some say that among the Lord Ravagers, only Celenova knows the truth of the Stellarons, or that she's the one planting them.^[12]

Known Stellarons

Herta Space Station

At some point in the past, Herta obtained a Stellaron and hid it within the Herta Space Station. Kafka and Silver Wolf, two Stellaron Hunters, were dispatched by Elio to uncover it and implant it within the Trailblazer for the foreseeable future. They succeeded in their task by luring the Antimatter Legion into attacking the space station as a distraction, and departed before the Astral Express' crew could find them, leaving the Trailblazer behind.^[13]

While battling against the Doomsday Beast, the Trailblazer blocked an attack directed at March 7th, which caused the Stellaron inside them to lose control. However, Welt sealed the Stellaron before they were entirely consumed by its energy.^[14]

According to Asat Pramad, the Stellaron inside the Trailblazer is branded with the imprint of the Trailblaze. As Xipe constantly tries to assimilate all things into one, while Akivili constantly creates new variations. These two forces repel each other in the Trailblazer's body achieving a dangerous equilibrium. The Trailblazer's body seems to have been created for this purpose and it conceals a secret inside it. Asat Pramad also states that the Stellaron Hunters likely understand this secret better than he does.^[5]

Jarilo-VI

Long ago, the Antimatter Legion invaded Jarilo-VI and caused great devastation. The first Supreme Guardian, Alisa Rand, asked the Stellaron for help and it fulfilled her wishes by causing a phenomenon that came to be known as the Eternal Freeze: a sudden massive drop in the world's temperature that caused the entire world to freeze over, with the exception of Belobog, which remains humanity's last bastion due to the efforts of The Architects.^[15]

When the Astral Express arrived on Jarilo-VI, they discovered that the Stellaron was responsible for the Eternal Freeze and had corrupted the current Supreme Guardian, Cocolia Rand. After defeating Cocolia, Welt sealed the Stellaron, though its ecological effects would still remain due to the Stellaron's long duration on the planet.^[16]

The Xianzhou Luofu

A Lord Ravager, Phantylia, masterminded a plot to smuggle a Stellaron aboard the Xianzhou Luofu, with the help of the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus,^[17] to bring about the self-destruction of the Xianzhou.^[18] The Stellaron Hunters detected this Stellaron and manipulated the Astral Express crew into helping the Luofu with the Stellaron crisis, with the intention of making the Xianzhou indebted to the crew in preparation for a great conflict with Nanook in the future.^[19][20]

Phantylia used the revived Ambrosial Arbor to create a physical body for herself, and fought the Astral Express crew and General Jing Yuan with her new body at the Ambrosial Arbor's roots. After Phantylia was defeated, the Stellaron was sealed.^[21] Later, Luocha and Jingliu used the opportunity to claim they were behind the Stellaron, bringing them into an audience with the Arbiter-Generals.^[22]

Penacony

A Stellaron entered Penacony when it was still a prison planet under the ownership of the Interastral Peace Corporation, during the War of Independence.^[23] Its ensuing eruption and the chaos of the war led to the IPC losing control of Penacony.^[19] After the war ended, "people in the shadows with ulterior motives" had the idea of using the Stellaron's power to help build Penacony's Dreamscape. By the time a representative from The Family arrived at The Watchmaker's call, the Stellaron had already been activated and was seeping into the Primordial Dreamscape.^[23] The Family, possessing extensive knowledge of Stellarons, helped the Watchmaker subdue the Stellaron. However, Gopher Wood and the Oak Family ensured that the Stellaron was not fully sealed; Gopher Wood used elements related to the Path of Propagation (such as the remains of AR-214, a Glamoth's Iron Cavalry soldier) to disguise the Stellaron in the Swarm Disaster's Chrysalis of Extinction and hide it in the deepest layers of the Penacony Grand Theater's Dreamscape. In this way, its influence would linger in the Dreamscape and tempt people with indulgence and pleasure, using their minds as nourishment for the sweet dream.^[23]

By the time the Watchmaker realized this, the Family already had a firm grip on Penacony and swiftly quelled any opposition that arose. At the Watchmaker's behest, Gallagher sent Charmony Festival invitations to various factions in the hopes of finding people capable of resolving the Stellaron disaster.^[24][23] During the Festival, Sunday and the rest of the Oak Family planned to use the power of Dominicus, an Emanator of Harmony, to place everyone within Penacony in their ideal dream,^[25] while Gopher Wood would attempt to recreate a controlled Swarm Disaster within the Dreamscape, prompting the dreamers to desperately cry out for "order" and salvation and thus force the return of Ena, the Aeon of Order.

Though they briefly succeeded, and Ena was temporarily revived, their plans were foiled and the Stellaron was sealed by the Astral Express crew.^[26]

Amphoreus

Lygus detonated a Stellaron in Scepter δ-me13's kernel layer in an attempt to wipe the Demiurge from the Scepter's extrapolations, using the resulting contamination to isolate the Amphoreus Experiment from any external interference.^[27][28] The status of Stellaron however remains unknown.

Planarcadia

After the Trailblazer is temporarily wounded by Fulwish atop Seafeld TV Tower during the confrontation between the Supplicants, they use the Stellaron within their body to gather the Wishpower of the spectators. The accumulated Wishpower is then used to refashion the Trailblazer's mask, allowing them to defeat Fulwish.^[29]

During his questioning, Asat Pramad reveals that the means to defeat him lies within the Trailblazer themselves: the Stellaron. However, he claims that the Trailblazer's current human form is incapable of defeating him. He suggests that, as they did against Fulwish, the Trailblazer could open the Stellaron to the world and expose it to those trembling in the ruins and the audience waiting for a hero. The resulting surge of Wishpower would fully awaken the Stellaron, granting the Trailblazer the power necessary to defeat Asat Pramad. However, he warns that the Stellaron's awakening may come at a cost, though he believes the Trailblazer may eventually cease to care about that cost once their wish has been fulfilled.^[30]

When questioned about the Stellaron within their body, Asat Pramad claims to have examined it and states that it is not a conventional "seed of ruin." In a critical success, he explains that it was a seed bestowed upon the Trailblazer by Xipe, yet branded with the imprint of the Trailblaze. Xipe constantly seeks to assimilate all things into one, while Akivili constantly creates new variations. These opposing forces naturally repel one another, yet within the Trailblazer's body they have reached a dangerous equilibrium. Asat Pramad further remarks that the Trailblazer's body appears to have been created specifically for this purpose and conceals a secret within itself, speculating that the Stellaron Hunters likely understand the truth better than he does. In a successful attempt, Asat Pramad describes a Stellaron as a fragment of a Path, formed through the condensation of Aeonic powers and concepts. He describes it as simultaneously an "engine," the "coordinates," and a "vessel of possibilities" whose full nature remains beyond even his ability to perceive.^[30]

Soon after, the Trailblazer and the Astral Express crew are confronted by Asat Pramad. During the confrontation, Asat Pramad overpowers the crew, causing the Stellaron within the Trailblazer to begin glowing. Asat Pramad urges the Trailblazer to make a wish to save their friends, threatening that otherwise they will die. As he prepares to deliver the final blow, Himeko intervenes and blocks the attack. Embracing the Trailblazer, she makes a wish upon the Stellaron to save the Nameless. Unable to accept an outcome in which Himeko sacrifices herself so that the Express can leave Planarcadia, the Trailblazer overrides Himeko's wish with their own. They instead wish to save Himeko, preventing her from meeting the fate associated with her wish and averting the Finality that would have resulted from it. During the subsequent confrontation, Asat Pramad notes that the Stellaron within the Trailblazer had begun to produce music.^[30]

Others

The Jepella Brotherhood accused Kafka of 46 crimes, likely all linked to obtaining a Stellaron.^[31] Some of these are:

• The Stellaron of the Attouine Universal Auction, within one of the auction items (a large diamond).
• The Stellaron of the Cyber Prison of Inupeis, apparently in the form of "Meta Code."
• The Stellaron of the ring world Golcondar, which represented the Steel Core of the world's point of gravitational equilibrium.

A Stellaron was also present in Pteruges-V, Kafka's home planet, and while the extent of damage is unknown, she remarks on how she was unable to see how far it fell at the time.^[32]

The Xianzhou Yuque, monitoring various enemy movements across the galaxy, obtained a report from the IPC that the Peacock Angel legion of the wingweavers arrived at the Consternation Starzone to look for a Stellaron there, hoping to use it to revive their homeworld of Muldrasil.^[33] Whether this Stellaron is actually present and whether the wingweavers were able to obtain it is unknown.

Lushaka, the oceanic home planet of the Watchmaker, had its landscape transformed long ago by a Stellaron. The Stellaron responded to the wishes of an aqua sprite who had lost her home in the war against land-dwellers. Meteors began falling from the sky, raising the sea level and engulfing all landmasses. The planet's water levels are still rising to this day.^[34]
