Lore

The ruins on Fort Mumei are related to a god that fell during the Archon War.[1][Note 1] Towards the end of the Archon War, Orobashi invaded Yashiori Island and came into conflict with Beelzebul, resulting in the destruction of the ancient city there.[2][3]

Typically, the islets in the surrounding area are used as transit points for transporting supplies to Watatsumi Island.[1] After Watatsumi rebelled against the Shogunate, rebel soldiers attacked Fort Mumei and destroyed the Electro Archon's wards on Yashiori Island that suppress the Tatarigami.[4]

After completing World Quest Series Orobashi's Legacy, Fort Mumei rises out of the sea.

Trivia

Etymology

  • Mumei (Japanese: めい), also read mumyou (Japanese: みょう), is the Japanese translation of avidyā — a Sanskrit word meaning ignorance or unenlightenment.
    • It is pronounced the same as 無名 mumei which means "nameless" or "unknown."

Notes

  1. This information is given by Kokomi, who does not acknowledge Orobashi as the god that died. The Chinese text also simply says "there is a Demon-God's ruins" (有一处魔神遗迹) but does not mention a god's death.
