Ancient Sacred Mountain

Last updated 2026-05-11

OverviewMap

Ancient Sacred Mountain is an area located in Natlan.

It is located within the Great Volcano of Tollan and contains the Sacred City of Tollan, the capital of the ancient dragon civilization that once dominated Natlan. The player gains access to it via the World Quest Nahuatzin's Leap in Series Path to the Flaming Peaks.

Initially, the player has access to the upper level of the area. Other subareas are accessed through quest progress. Once the other levels are unlocked, the player can teleport to them with the local waypoints.

The player cannot jump down to the lower levels of the area from an upper level, even if they can access it. Doing so will transform the player into a fireball that brings them to a nearby landmass, and unlike normal falling out of bounds, this does not drain HP or Energy.

Subareas

There are 8 subareas in Ancient Sacred Mountain:

Name Description
Chamber of Deliberation

The Chamber of Deliberation is an assembly hall where the rulers of the ancient dragon civilization once gathered to discuss administrative and judicial matters.

Esoteric Arrays

The Esoteric Arrays were once used to perform arithmetic calculations.[1]

Flame-Melding Ritual Grounds

The Flame-Melding Ritual Grounds is the site where Xiuhcoatl created the first Astral Assemblage — a feat comparable to forging a star.[2]

Heart of Force Inversion

Heart of Force Inversion is filled with pools of liquid Phlogiston that flow upwards into the sky.

Pseudostar Pedestal
Ruined Armament Workshop

The Ruined Armament Workshop was once a facility for manufacturing and storing weapons. The ancient dragons may have also used it for human experimentation.

Sea of Shifting Sentience

The Sea of Shifting Sentience contains large pools of Liquid Phlogiston, in which the ancient dragons once submerged themselves to absorb the knowledge and wisdom stored in the primal flame.

Summoning Hall

The Summoning Hall is connected to the mouth of the volcano at Skyfire Circlet, and serves as the entrance hall of the Sacred City of Tollan. It is where the Traveler first "reawakens" the ancient city and enters its depths.

Interactables

Record Left by the "Flamestealer"

This interactable is found in an underground room north of the Chamber of Deliberation.

"...My beloved son is born, just as I had planned..."

"...How beautiful he is, such a flawless creation. I can feel the blood of the dragon flowing through his veins. Even my brother, should he lay eyes upon him, would struggle to discern his true lineage at first glance..."

"...Beshackled by their feeble flesh, human souls are forever incapable of fully realizing their will. But not so my beloved son, for he shall surpass all of humanity and take his rightful place as the protagonist of my 'story'..."

"...His strength is undeniable. Even within the confines of the vishaps' nest, when it comes to feeding time, he always claims the dragon's share. To conquer or be conquered, and grow stronger with every trial — just as it has been with all who have become dragons before him..."

"...But I did not create him merely to raise another lord of dragonkind..."

...

"...Were I to steer him step by step, shaping his ascent to power just as I dictated, guiding him to rule over the human tribes and eventually become their king... Without question, he would make the choices laid out before him, the choices I envisioned. Then it would all be meaningless..."

"...Perhaps it would be unwise to keep him here too long..."

Descriptions

Before the descendants of the various tribes learned to record their history with woven scrolls, the ancient and proud nobility had already built a magnificent holy city here, scorning the land that those feeble slaves knew as "Natlantea." However, the vast empire that prided itself on its power has long since perished in battle. Only a lonely tomb remains of that mighty city.
