Azosite
Last updated 2025-12-16
Azosite is an ancient form of energy that was once used by the Khaenri'ahns. It was made by extracting pure elemental energy from Ley Lines and processing it into usable Energy Blocks.[1] This was done at factories like Hangeh Afrasiyab.[2]
Azosite is fundamentally the same as elemental energy, so it shares the same limitations and properties, such as the ability to reverse Abyssal influence. [1][3]

Lore
The Khaenri'ahns used Azosite to power everything from common Ruin Guards to large weapons-testing facilities like Madinat al-Nuhas. However, they may not have invented it, as research from the Sumeru Akademiya suggests that Azosite energy systems were in widespread use long before Khaenri'ah even started building ruin machines.[4]
Over time, the Khaenri'ahns discovered more effective power sources, such as Abyssal energy,[1] which gradually replaced the old Azosite systems.[5][6] This shift was reflected in ruin machine engineering — early ruin machines used Azosite backup power systems, while later ones did not. Jazari suggests that this indicates a period of transition during which the Khaenri'ahns had not yet mastered Abyssal energy (and thus needed the safety net of Azosite).[4]
Around the time of the cataclysm, Rene, a researcher from Fontaine, visited Hangeh Afrasiyab and studied Azosite. He came to the conclusion that while it was convenient, stable, and safe, it lacked "will" due to being "pure elemental force," likening it to the difference between a Hydro Slime and an Oceanid.[2] Rene also speculated that applying the Azosite smelting method to Amrita, a particularly potent form of elemental energy, could produce a "true perpetual energy source."[3]
