A timeline of historical events in the Sumeru region. Due to a lack of relative dates, most of Sumeru's pre-cataclysm lore cannot be verifiably categorized and have been placed in the earliest reasonable timeframe. References are provided as much as possible. Notes expand on the deduction and reasoning used to draw certain conclusions, which can be read either by hovering over (desktop-only) or clicking on the note. Some specific types of notes found on the page:

• Lore Discrepancy: When information provided in the game is self-contradictory, retroactively changed, or contradicts information from outside media (such as the manga), it is considered a lore discrepancy. This is different from a translation discrepancy, in which information is contradictory or misleading due to inaccuracies in localization. In the case of a lore discrepancy between in-game information and outside media, the in-game information always takes priority.
• Translation Note: Used when the original Chinese text and then official English localization do not match, or if something is clearer in Chinese. In the case of a translation discrepancy, the original Chinese text always takes priority.
• Assumptions: To make sense of the lore — which the miHoYo writers often deliberately obscure by withholding critical information until later versions, giving contradictory evidence, and scattering information across various item sets — editors will sometimes make assumptions to determine the order of events or connect pieces of lore together. However, they may be obsoleted and proven incorrect by new lore and story. These notes serve as a disclaimer, and expand on the editors' reasoning for their conclusions.

Old World

• Apep is the Dendro Dragon Sovereign. She resides in Sumeru, where she rules the land and nurtures some of the most ancient and primordial beings, known simply as Dendro Lifeforms.^[1]
• The Irminsul grew as the first fern to sprout within the lush verdant world of Apep’s court, stretching freely toward the sky.^[2][3]

When the Doves Held Branches

• Apep's Dendro Authority is stolen by the Heavenly Principles.^[4]
• The Irminsul was usurped and refashioned by the Heavenly Principles, transforming into a device meant to record and preserve all information within Teyvat, determine the world’s fate, and maintain the cycle of erosion.^[3][5]

First Era

The term "first era" is derived from The History of the Decline and Fall of Remuria.

• The Ancient City of Ys was established in what is now Sumeru Desert as part of Teyvat’s unified civilization.^[6][7]
• As the avatar of the Irminsul, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata already existed during this era, presumably having come into existence after the Heavenly Principles modified the tree.^{[8][Note 1]}

War of Funerary Flame

• Apep joins Nibelung in the war of funerary flame against the Heavenly Principles.^[1]
• Nabu Malikata survives the downfall of the Angel race.^[9][10]
• ~6000 years ago^{[Note 2]} ― The Great Red Sand was created by the first Celestial Nail, which fell upon Sumeru and buried the rainforest beneath the sands.^[1][11]
  • The Ancient City of Ys is destroyed.^[6]

Interim Period

While not formally established as its own period in time, Liyue lore indicates there was a stretch of peacetime between the Great War and the Archon War.

• According to legend, King Deshret was a "son of the sky,"^[12] but he was born after the fall of the Seelie and the Three Moons and only learned of their stories from an unspecified woman (likely Nabu Malikata or Greater Lord Rukkhadevata).^{[13][Lore Discrepancy 1]}

Archon War

?–2000 years ago

Note: The term "Archon War" is a catch-all term for the various, scattered conflicts across Teyvat to determine who would become one of The Seven, which arose as a result of the creation of the Gnoses. Due to the timeline's ambiguity, this section also includes events after the Celestial Nails were cast down.

• >3700 years ago^{[Note 3]} — Seven divine seats in Celestia open up, causing the gods to become embroiled in a bitter struggle for supremacy.^[14]
  • Many gods fought for the sake of their ideals for a prosperous humanity. "That which lurks within and animates this relic are the divine remains of lamenting gods. They are unrealized ideals, designs for a prosperous humanity that could never be."^[15]
  • During the Archon War, the infighting amongst gods was but one cause of conflict in Teyvat; other creatures and entities also sought to expand their domains, taking advantage of the chaos to encroach on the continent.^[16]
• Nabu Malikata, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, and King Deshret befriend each other and become known as the God-Kings of Sumeru.^[9][10][17]
• At some point in time, Nabu Malikata foresaw the coming of the cataclysm. She creates a shard of Khvarena and leaves it in the care of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata.^[18]
• Rukkhadevata would turn the shard into the divine bird Simurgh. She charged Simurgh with "the guardianship of the border between new birth and death".^[18]
• King Deshret defeated many gods, including Heryshaf, Sobek, and Thoth, who submitted to him and entered his service as part of the Seven Pillars.^[19][20][21] Meanwhile, gods unwilling to serve him, such as Remus, chose to abandon Sumeru and follow the path of wandering.^[22]

Ay-Khanoum

• Nabu Malikata, King Deshret, and Greater Lord Rukkhadevata — collectively known as the three God-Kings of Sumeru — build Ay-Khanoum, the "City of Amphitheaters." Its name means "City of the Moon Maiden" in the ancient language of the Jinn.^[23][24]
  • Nabu Malikata is said to have an "amicable relationship" with the Jinn.^[24]
  • According to some legends, King Deshret captured the Jinn in magic bottles marked by his seal, although the Jinn were also his willing servants in his cause of conquering the world. He created Ay-Khanoum as a city for the Jinn, while they created the entrance to the Mausoleum of King Deshret.^{[23][Lore Discrepancy 2]}
• Nabu Malikata dies "due to the malice of the burning sun and yellow sand"^[24] and the city of Ay-Khanoum is presumably engulfed by a sandstorm and later abandoned.^[25][26]
  • Nabu Malikata desired a "spectacular death" so that the bitterness of her death would preserve her legacy forever. King Deshret, who was enamored with her, never realized this,^[27] sending him into an obsessive spiral over the shared vision the three God-Kings once had.^[28]
  • The "promised land of 'Valivija'" is buried by the desert sands, which may correspond with Ay-Khanoum.^[25]
  • Following the death of Nabu Malikata, King Deshret and Greater Lord Rukkhadevata parted ways to create their own civilizations.^{[25][29][Lore Discrepancy 3]}

Dharma Forest

Note: Events in this section are currently assumed to be concurrent with King Deshret's Civilization and Gurabad.

• After separating from King Deshret, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata comes to the East of the Great Red Sand and creates the Varuna Contraption that terraforms part of desert into a rainforest.^{[29][30][Note 4]}
  • At the border between the forest and the desert, the Wall of Samiel was erected to prevent the forest from undergoing desertification.
  • After the forest labyrinth was created, the lord of the forest Viaghara was born from the moon's reflection on the water, resembling a tiger in shape.^[31]
• With the help of her followers, who would go on to establish the Amurta Darshan of Sumeru Akademiya, Rukkhadevata developed a flourishing rainforest. Sumeru City was built on the Divine Tree, a particularly massive tree located in Sumeru's forest region, and the sages of Sumeru Akademiya assisted Rukkhadevata in managing the nation's affairs.^[32]
• Rukkhadevata also created the Aranara, small plantlike creatures with the ability to control dreams.^[33]
• Thousands of years ago ― Rukkhadevata briefly returns to the desert to help rescue King Deshret's people from the effects of forbidden knowledge, and creates the Akasha System to help combat it by uniting the people's wisdom.^[8] However, the endeavour exhausts much of her strength and shrinks her into the stature of a child.^[34]

King Deshret's Civilization

• While Rukkhadevata creates a rainforest in a corner of the desert, Deshret continues ruling over the Great Red Sand.
• Thousands of years ago ― King Deshret eventually succumbs to the "poison" of forbidden knowledge.^{[13][34][Lore Discrepancy 4]}
  • The forbidden knowledge brings calamities upon Sumeru. "People's minds were filled with crazed whispers, dark gray scales spread across their bodies, even the land was stripped of its vigor."^[34]
  • King Deshret asks Greater Lord Rukkhadevata for help, for the sake of their mutual friend.^[13] The Lord of Verdure gathered the priests, instructing them to build temples and creating Aaru Village as the last bastion of Deshret's civilization. She also expended a great deal of her power to suppress forbidden knowledge and regressed into a childlike form. Even this, however, was not enough; in the end, Deshret sacrificed himself to finally put an end to it.^[34]
• King Deshret's civilization fell and splintered into many smaller, human-led city-states.^[35][36]

Gurabad

• The vassal city-state of Gurabad rises after the death of Nabu Malikata, during what is known as the vassal states era.^{[25][37][Lore Discrepancy 5]}
  • The story of Gurabad is first known with the vassal king Ormazd Shah, who founded the city after defeating Huvashtra the Tyrant with the grace of King Deshret and the help of the Jinni Liloupar, whom he would end up marrying.^[38] Ormazd had 301 kins, with one of them being Shirin, the half-fairy daughter of him and his wife Liloupar, the latter's three prophecies and three admonitions would later doom the city of Gurabad and most of its inhabitants.
    • Liloupar, feeling betrayed by her husband's descent into tyranny, orchestrate the events leading to the destruction of Gurabad and decides to use her children to achieve her goals.^[39]
    • Liloupar would then have a son named Kisra, whom she gives to be taken care of at the hands of the giant bird Ghoghnus (Likely the Simurgh, see Etymology section.)
    • Ormazd adopts Kisra, and give him the surname "Parvez" for his enormous campaign.^[25]
    • Kisra Parvez and Shirin are married, though their marriage is not a happy one.^[40]
    • Under Liloupar's influence, Shirin murders Ormazd and his 300 heirs with poisoned honey, and her husband Kisra takes the title of the vassal king. He adds the name "ravan" to his bestowed surname, and now his name is Kisra Parvezravan.^[25][40]
    • The son of Parvezravan and Shirin is born, and is named Shiruyeh. Fearing Liloupar's admonitions, Parvezravan banishes his son, forces him to cover his face, and forbids him to set foot into Gurabad.^[40]
    • Liloupar enable her grandson through various means for him to confront his father Kisra, with her aid Shiruyeh's rebellion turns out to be successful. Shorty after, Liloupar uses the power of the "dark abyss," destroying most of the city with its king transformed into a dark monster.^{[41][Lore Discrepancy 6]}
    • When King Deshret returned to Gurabad and learned of what Liloupar had done, he punished her by splitting her soul into seven fragments and scattered them across the Desert of Hadramaveth, each guarded by a sage.^[42]
    • Shirin and Shiruyeh fell alongside the city into an abyss, where they still dwell according to Liloupar.^[43] In the culture of the Eremites, the name "Shiruyeh" came to be associated with cowardice and traitors; and both him and his mother Shirin are usually regarded as the main reason for as to why Gurabad fell.^[40]

Post-Archon War

'2000-500 years ago

• Following the death of King Deshret — Somehow, a man known as Shah Ramshahr comes to be credited with building the seven towers that were built during the eradication of forbidden knowledge. The towers, which are only known to have been built at the time of King Deshret's death, come to be known as the "Towers of Betrayal."^[44]
  • Under the rulership of Shah Ramshahr, who is implied to have usurped the throne of Gurabad from Kavusbay, a descendant of Shiruyeh; seven cities each ruled by a king would come to be built around the seven towers, among which included Ay-Khanoum (which was apparently rebuilt after its initial destruction), Gurabad (a rebuilt version), Saleh, and Tulaytullah.^[45]
  • Eventually, Shah Ramshahr perishes and a minister known as Turan Khagan becomes regent to rule in the place of Shah Ramshahr's son, Artaxir. The latter dies at a young age; Turan Khagan, who is suggested to have been Artaxir's murderer, is later himself executed with his three sons. Shah Ramshahr's royal power is transferred among the numerous states that had broken free of his tyranny.^[46][47]
    • Humayun Gurkan, who ruled over Tulaytullah, marries Shah Ramshahr's Princess and becomes known as "King Humayun Gurkan." Because of an event known as the "Jinn Uprising," his reign would end in a brutal manner when he gets decapitated at the city of Saleh; this was followed by a short-lived alliance of thirty kings, who are vanquished soon afterwards.
    • Garshāsp, who is credited with having defeated "all the bandits," gains the name of "Muazzam Khagan, Khagan of Khagans." Garshāsp ruled both Ay-Khanoum and Gurabad, at one point in time, he decides to abandon Gurabad and set up a new capital; this new capital burns, and he passes away with his people fleeing to other cities.
• ? years ago — A large-scale invasion by cruel Khagans on horseback takes place, where they lay waste to settlements all across the desert, including Tulaytullah.
• ? years ago — A young noble named Goudarz would come to defeat a "false Khagan" and rebels from Tulaytullah, resulting in his rise as a king.
  • At some point in time, he encounter the Ibis King, when asked "What causes our rise and fall?" Goudarz answered: "Conspiracy and betrayal, for it renders the righteous and wise unable to succeed and thus nations fall." Hearing this satisfying answer, Thoth grants him the power to "decieve."
  • Following this event, Goudarz would change his name to Saleb Dowleh and make a rebuilt version of the city of Gurabad the capital of his realm, unifying the desert and entering a time known as the years of "fine rain at sunset."^[48][49]
  • Prince Hojir, Saleb Dowleh's heir, consumed poisoned wine alongside hundred of nobles, thus passing away and ending a period of relative prosperity. Saleb Dowleh was accused of having orchestrated the events, leading up to infighting within his own family.
  • He ends up summoning Muzaffar, a Dey from the city of Orghana, who later betrays him and marchs towards Gurabad; pillaging his way to the city.
  • During his conquest, Muzaffar had besieged the famed city of Beit Raha, tearing out its walls and towers. He presented the head of Nasrul to his brothers and comrades and they made a mockery out of it; Nazira — Nasrul's daughter — is then made ruler of the city by Muzaffar and his men.^[50]
  • With Muzaffar approaching, Saleb Dowleh sought help from his younger brother once more, and they would reunite their forces. However, Muzaffar defeats the both of them and put Saleb Dowleh's whole family to the sword, he then let him witness Gurabad burning before blinding him and taking his life.
  • Muzaffar abandons Gurabad and chooses to build his city elsewhere in the desert, never returning to Orghana where the other Deys resided.^[51]
  • In order to avoid the outcome that befalled Saleb Dowleh, Muzaffar instructed his son Zumurud to have as many heirs as possible; and Zumurud would have 99 offsprings, 50 sons and 49 daughters respectively. Notable heirs included Badanah, Muzzudin, and Hanzade Sultan, under all of whom Sumeru entered a sort of "golden age."^[52]
• ? years ago — Xiphos, a heir from a destroyed kingdom of the desert would settle in Tulaytullah as advised from his master, possibly meeting the jinni Makhaira whom he is implied to have been a lover of. Makhaira would be sent as a tribute to the king Badanah, becoming his concubine; she then meets Badanah's son, Faramarz, and they end up being lovers.
  • In a similar vein to Goudarz, Makhaira encounters Thoth and accept to answer one of his three questions, when asked "What obliterates love and hate?" she answered: "I have nothing left to lose. Vengeance alone can quench both love and hate." Thoth is satisfied with her answer and grants her the power to "be loved," which, like Goudarz, would inevitably lead to her downfall.
  • Makhaira, wanting vengeance for what Badanah's predecessors had done to her ancestors, the Jinn; convinced Faramarz that Badanah's greed would one day cause the kingdom's fall, and both agreed on a plan to assasinate Badanah by setting up his death as an accident. Due to Faramarz's young age, Makhaira becomes queen-regent and rules in his place alongside Balash, one of the many uncles of Faramarz, and he moves to the Emerald Palace.^[53][54]
  • Another uncle, Goraz, wanted to restore Faramarz to the throne, starting a rebellion against Balash in order to overthrow him; shortly after however, instead of letting Faramarz keep his throne, Goraz exiles him and takes Makhaira as his queen.
  • Goraz's reign would not last long, as the people and nobles of Tulaytullah were not fond of Balash's disposal and wanted justice, starting a rebellion that culminated in the overthrowing and death of Goraz — likely having been assassinated by Makhaira herself — who gave his head to the rebels so that they could be appeased.
  • After Goraz's death, the city of Saleh rebelled again, claiming to establish a Khagan; Makhaira manages to pacify them.
  • Faramarz returned to take back his throne; however, another twelve of Faramarz's uncles would start a war for the throne, resulting in another prolonged war. Finally, Faramarz emerges victorious from this conflict, and because of Makhaira's alignements with whoever served her interests best, he decides to end her life with a viper's venom, regardless of his love for her. This results in a finale exile to the Rainforest from a conspiracy between city-dwellers and slave-warriors, where Faramarz supposedly lives his last days.^[55][56][57]
  • Xiphos, who was in a quest to unify the desert because of his possession of the Key of Khaj-Nisut and advices from his master, became Tulaytullah's protector and the main reason behind its prosperity. This prosperity would not last long, as other cities of the desert and even Tulaytullah's own nobles grew wary of Xiphos and planned his eventual demise; according to a version of the events, those cities had hired a mercenary who is stated to have been an exiled princeling from the desert, and both him and Xiphos met in a duel where the latter gets defeated and killed, which is soon followed by Tulaytullah's decline. Despite this description matching the character of Faramarz, there are no known records of Faramarz having ever been a mercenary, making it unlikely for this to be factual — or at the very least — to be about Faramarz.^[58][59]
• ? years ago — The Old Blind Poet, once a general under Badanah and the master of the hero Xiphos, decides along with other desert folks to permanently migrate to a settlement called Aaru Village, where they would await the return of Al-Ahmar. The many realms of the desert are eventually buried under the sands, leaving only ruins.^[60]

Pre-Cataclysm

• Slightly over 500 years ago ― Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter moves from Mondstadt to Sumeru to study at the Sumeru Akademiya.^[61][62][63]

Cataclysm

500 years ago

• Monsters from the Abyss invade the aboveground world of Teyvat, causing widespread devastation.^[64]
  • The people of Teyvat attribute the creation of these monsters to one of the Five Sinners of Khaenri'ah, "Gold" Rhinedottir.^[64][65] Her creations, the Alfisol, were the advance guard for the monsters from the Abyss.^[66]
• The Kingdom of Khaenri'ah is destroyed by the Heavenly Principles,^[67] causing the fall of the Eclipse Dynasty and the entire civilization.^[68] Khaenri'ah's destruction causes a devastating ripple effect.^[69]
  • The Seven become involved in Khaenri'ah after the Abyss' invasion of Teyvat.^{[67][Assumption 1]}

• 500 years ago ― Unlike the rest of The Seven, the Dendro Archon Greater Lord Rukkhadevata is not summoned to Khaenri'ah, as she is tasked with protecting Irminsul.^[8]
  • Forbidden knowledge contaminates Irminsul, and by extension, Rukkhadevata herself. Since she cannot "erase" herself to purify Irminsul, she creates a successor, Lesser Lord Kusanali, to act as her reincarnation in the next samsara.
• The king of the forest, Viaghara, dies protecting Dharma Forest. His successors today are the Rishboland Tigers.^[70]
• At some point, the huntress Viridescent finds the blind younger brother of the Bloodstained Knight in Dharma Forest. She is unable to prevent his death at the hands of Abyssal monsters, but goes on to fulfill his dying wish, enacting vengeance on the beasts for the suffering they caused.^[71][72]
  • Eventually, Viridescent undergoes erosion and becomes tainted by "black blood" of the monsters she slew. The Bloodstained Knight encounters her in this state and kills her, as she had become a monster herself.

Girdle of the Sands

• The Gate of Everlasting Mourning serves as the epicenter of the Abyssal invasion into the nations of Teyvat. The monsters tear open a "great rift," which becomes known as Tunigi Hollow.^[73]
• The Hydro Archon Egeria falls in battle at Tunigi Hollow. Her body is transformed into a "sea of pure dew," the Amrita, which concentrates in the Vourukasha Oasis.^[73]
  • However, Egeria cannot "be reborn in a purer plane," as she has been tainted with Abyssal corruption. Thus, the Dendro Archon Greater Lord Rukkhadevata causes the Harvisptokhm to grow from the Amrita, granting Egeria's remaining consciousness an anchor in this realm.
• Simurgh finally awakes from her slumber. As destined, she drinks the Amrita, purifying the corruption and sacrificing herself. Her form is shattered into "countless motes of Khvarena," the most sentient of which become the Pari, who take up Simurgh's mantle and dedicate themselves to cleansing defilement.^[73]
• At some point, the Schwanenritter evacuate Khaenri'ahn refugees aboveground into the Girdle of the Sands.^[74] They use their Ruin Golems to aid in the fight against the Abyss, earning the title of "heroes of Dahri."^[75]
• Sometime later,^{[Note 5]} Zurvan, the First Pari, finds a weakened Dainsleif while fighting Abyssal forces in the wilderness. She brings him back to the Vourukasha Oasis to recover, then forms a Laupa connection with him and fights alongside him for a time.^[75]
  • "Not long after," Zurvan and Dainsleif meet the Darshan led by Nagarjuna, who claim that they once fought with the "heroes of Dahri" and intend to carry on their will to destroy the Abyss.
• At some point, the Harvisptokhm seals the rift at Tunigi Hollow. However, the Sign of Apaosha appears in the sky above it, indicating that the defilement is not yet cleansed.^[73]
• The Pari work with Nagarjuna and his Darshan to perform the Rite of Chinvat. Zurvan personally uses the Khvarena to repair the Harvisptokhm's seal, purifying it and extinguishing the Sign of Apaosha.^[76]
  • Later, Zurvan fuses the strongest Khvarena into the five Great Songs of Khvarena, which she uses to cleanse the land. Afterwards, four of the Great Songs are scattered, but Zurvan hides the fifth in the Vourukasha Oasis.^[76] The Oasis begins to continuously birth new Pari.^[75]
  • Some members of the Darshan choose to remain in the Girdle of the Sands and take on the responsibility of maintaining the Harvisptokhm's seal. They forge Laupa connections with the new Pari and begin to call themselves the "Order of Skeptics."
• Sometime afterwards, Dainsleif leaves the Vourukasha Oasis alongside the Traveler's sibling.^[75]

Post-Cataclysm

500–100 years ago

• <500 years ago, October 27 ― Following the cataclysm, Lesser Lord Kusanali is born and rises to the position of Dendro Archon to replace Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, who disappeared during the chaos.^[77]
  • Following the events of Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises when the memories of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata were erased from Teyvat, Lesser Lord Kusanali is believed by all, including herself, to have always been the original Dendro Archon, and that she lost all of her memories and knowledge during the cataclysm, resulting in her imprisonment by the sages.
• >400 years ago^{[Note 6]} ― Zandik attends Sumeru Akademiya, hoping to further his research on creating "enhanced humans" despite rejection from his peers and teachers. Pierro tracks him down while following rumors about heresy and recruits him into the Fatui as the Harbinger Il Dottore.^[78]
• >400 years ago ― The Temple of Silence, an organization hailing from the desert that were responsible for knowledge from the era of King Deshret, departs the rainforest due to the corruption of the sages back to the desert, and settle into a large underground temple in Thamud Oasis.^[79]
  • Upon their departure, the Akademiya, seeking to cover up their departure, creates a front organization that is responsible for the custody and disposal of information and documents not fit for public dissemination.
• 200 years ago ― The most talented scholar of Sumeru Akademiya (before Lisa) graduates.^[80]
• >120 years ago, August 20 ― Faruzan is born.
  • >100 years ago ― Faruzan is trapped within ruins related to King Deshret's civilization and was unable to escape until a century later.

Girdle of the Sands

• Sometime after the establishment of the Order of Skeptics,^{[Note 7]} an investigation team from the Sumeru Akademiya arrives in the Girdle of the Sands to explore the Dahrian ruins.^[81]
  • The Order of Skeptics warns them against entering the ruins, but to no avail. Ultimately, they decide to send Klingsor, then a member of the Order, with them for protection.
  • While in the ruins, Klingsor succumbs to the allure of the Abyss and becomes an Abyss Herald. The fate of the investigation team is unknown.
  • Afterwards, Abyssal forces attack the Vourukasha Oasis in pursuit of the Great Songs of Khvarena. Pari and human warriors fend them off, but as a precautionary measure, Zurvan seals off the Oasis and the Dahrian ruins in the area using the power of the Great Songs.

• 20 years ago ― Kaveh's Father, a scholar from the Rtawahist and an employee of the Akademiya, enters the Interdarshan Championship to win the Diadem of Knowledge for his son. Sometime after entering the championship, he encounters Sachin and is influenced by his words, soon after returning home to tell his family that he is going into the desert and venturing out to Aaru Village, where supports the villagers financially and medically. He eventually comes across a caravan stuck in quicksand and dies saving them, with his family learning of his death soon after.
  • Kaveh reached schooling age and enrolled into the Kshahrewar after passing the entrance exams.^{[82][Assumption 2]}
• ? years ago, May 8 ― Collei is born in Sumeru^[83] with the disease of Eleazar and is given to a seer named Barnabas^[84] for treatment. Unbeknownst to her parents, however, Barnabas is an agent of the Fatui and turns Collei into a test subject for their Archon Residue experiments.^[85][86]
• ~10 years ago ― Cyrus departs from the Temple of Silence, taking Cyno with him.^[87]
• < ~10 years ago ― Cyno studies under the same master as Lisa.^[88]
• Lisa graduates from the Spantamad Darshan^[89] after only two years of study. Disillusioned with the Akademiya's atmosphere, she returns to Mondstadt and joins the Knights of Favonius.^[90]
• ? years ago ― 100 years after she trapped within the desert ruins, Faruzan finally escapes, and found in the forest with an Anemo Vision in hand.^[91]
• ? years ago ― Faranak leaves for Fontaine for employment. Kaveh met Alhaitham, and they became friends.^[82][92]
  • Kaveh and Alhaitham begin the joint project "Decoding the Runes and Architectural Philosophy of the Ruins of King Deshret's Civilization," and their respective contributions contributed greatly to academic research and developments in language and architecture.
  • Kaveh and Alhaitham have a falling out and their friendship comes to an end. They clash in academic journals for some time after this, criticizing each other's perspective. Their collaborative project also comes to a halt due to a lack of a shared vision between the collaborators.
• ? years ago ― The Six Sages become more radical in their belief that the arts are meaningless, and society follows suit, resulting in the marginalization of people that worked in art-related fields in Sumeru.^[93]
• <4 years ago ― The following events presumably occur sometime between 4 years ago and the present. The events are listed in a tentative chronological order, but there is no confirmation on when exactly they occurred relative to the present.
• Last Ludi Harpastum (~1 year to 6 months ago)^{[Note 8]} ― The events of the manga's main story, set in Mondstadt, occur. At the end of the story, Collei leaves Mondstadt with Cyno to go to Sumeru.^[94]
• Kaveh is commissioned by Dori to design and build The Palace of Alcazarzaray. The first version of the palace is destroyed by The Withering 70% into its completion. The Forest Rangers show up and clear away The Withering Zone. Kaveh and Tighnari meet each other around this time.^{[Assumption 3][95]}
  • Kaveh sells his home and all of his possessions to fund 70% of the construction of the second Palace of Alcazarzaray, with Dori covering the rest. Kaveh gains his Dendro Vision after transferring his assets.^[96]
  • After overspending on the project, there was still Mora to be repaid, and Dori convinces Kaveh to foot the bill, resulting in his bankruptcy and debt. Kaveh gains nationwide fame in Sumeru as a result of completing this project and Kaveh spends a fortnight in Lambad's Tavern due to his homelessness before reuniting with Alhaitham. Alhaitham invites Kaveh to move in with him after this encounter.
  • Kaveh designed and built Mehrak using a machine core excavated from King Deshret's kingdom.^[97]

Present Day

• Version 2.6 Event, Marvelous Merchandise ― Liben heads to Sumeru to trade, but quickly leaves after seeing the arrival of "strange folks", sensing an "ominous air" surrounding the nation.
• Version 2.8 Event, Summertime Odyssey ― According to Chevka, one of the Harbingers — likely Il Dottore — discovered in Sumeru a way to connect people's minds through the means of "certain technologies" (the Akasha).^[98]
• Version 3.6 Event, A Parade of Providence ― Kaveh wins the Akademiya Extravaganza championship, granting him to wear the Diadem of Knowledge, but he destroys it after placing the diadem on the stand.^[99]
• Version 5.1 Event, Sabzeruz Festival ― The Sabzeruz Festival is celebrated for Lesser Lord Kusanali.
• During the events of Khvarena of Good and Evil, the Sign of Apaosha reappears in the sky above the Harvisptokhm for the first time since the cataclysm, and Katheryne commissions the Traveler to resolve it.
  • Klingsor, a former Skeptic who sided with the Abyss Order, persuades Nasejuna, the current leader of the Order of Skeptics, to help him break the Harvisptokhm's seal, which would allow the power of the Abyss to encroach on Teyvat.
  • To undo the seal, they must perform the Rite of Chinvat, which requires the power of the five Great Songs of Khvarena. Since the Great Songs can only be retrieved by a Pari, Klingsor and Nasejuna attempt to manipulate the Pari Sorush into assisting them. However, their plot is foiled by the Traveler, who helps Sorush complete the Rite of Chinvat, cleansing the Harvisptokhm and extinguishing the Sign of Apaosha.
