Character Introductions are posts by miHoYo announcing upcoming playable characters or major non-playable characters on HoYoLAB, Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit. They include the character's Introduction Banner, Introduction Card, Card, and introduction, including their name, title(s), element, and region.

- Character introductions are posted before the character's actual release, often referred to as "drip marketing." This term became popular after a tweet from the official Genshin Impact Twitter account referred to it as such the first time it happened a full version before. The amount of time before the character release changed over time:
- Closed Beta Test - Varies.
- Version 1.0 to Version 1.6 - One to two weeks before the character released.
- Version 2.0 to Version 5.2 - Two days before the previous version released, all at the same time.
- For example, the Version 2.0 characters Kamisato Ayaka, Sayu and Yoimiya were introduced on June 7, 2021, before Version 1.6 was released on June 9, 2021.
- Since Version 5.3 - The week after the previous version had released, spread apart by a few hours or days depending on rarity and number of characters.
- A character introduction may be delayed to a different day due to real-life events, such as anniversaries of historical events.
- Rerir is the first non-playable character to be given a character introduction.
