This article is about all the characters' story entries, regardless if they're playable or not. For a list of playable characters, see Battlesuits.

Honkai Impact 3rd is filled with many characters who appear in the game's Story chapters and other modes, Manga, Anime, Visual Novels or the combination of the aforementioned.

Some characters may share appearances with each other or even have the same name, like Yae Sakura and Yae Kasumi. The wiki will refer to all those character entities as different incarnations. This happens because the universe of the game, nicknamed Honkaiverse by the players, is filled with multiple worlds that are ever so slightly different from each other. Said worlds are mostly referred to as "bubble universes"^{[note 1]} ("bubbles" in the Sea of Quanta) or "proper worlds" ("branches" of the Imaginary Tree).

To differentiate between the "main cast" players meet for the majority of the HI3 story and the unrelated versions, the wiki will place Main Universe and Alternate Universe tags where appropriate with Main Universe referring to the specific "proper world" most of the game cast comes from and Alternate Universe referring to all other worlds.

Two similar characters can exist within the Main Universe as well, like Yae Sakura and Sakura. To explain: The main game world is separated into 2 important eras, the Previous Era and the Current Era which are a result of the fight against the Final Herrscher who almost destroyed the Earth which in turn needed multiple thousands of years to heal, and character designs from the Previous Era may be reused for characters in the Current Era. The incarnations are unrelated even though they share a name, design elements, and possibly even personality traits. There's no official explanation as to why this is happening, but it's jokingly assumed that MiHoYo is "unwilling to throw away designs that sell" and that "it helps the marketing if their names are same/similar".

A character can also be copied/cloned and such copy, if it is able to think independently and has enough unique story material, will get its own character entry. Otherwise, the copy and the copied original entity will share a page.

↑ While the "universe" part in the term may suggest that a bubble is of extreme size, they can be quite small, and the term is sometimes considered a bad localization choice that hasn't been updated due to its prevalence in old materials as they are referred to as "worlds" in the Chinese and Japanese versions of the game. A universe is supposed to be the biggest cosmic entity that encompasses smaller ones, so there being multiple "universes" would suggest that these places aren't connected somehow, which is widely agreed to be a false statement.
