    Story

    Part 2 Chapter I

Main article: Part 2 Chapter I

During the Amber Street Great Panic, a manifestation of the Ten Faces of Misery that occurred a hundred years ago,[15] Litost resolved the near unstoppable calamity by slaughtering every citizen on Amber Street, ridding it of the shadows. Afterwards, Litost used himself to describe the source of the calamity and to withhold blame for it. By doing such, the remaining fear was directed towards Litost, thus preventing the Great Panic from recurring.[16] Before his death on the day of Langqiu and Oxia's separation,[17] Litost absorbed all the fear he could contain within himself, establishing the Ten Faces of Misery and imprisoning the shadows, with his very blood turning into pool water infused by shadows—creating the Pool of Shadows.[18] Following his death, the Seven Posts of Transfixing Shadows (Seven Nails)[19] were created to prevent the Sea of Data's corruption.[20]

    Part 2 EX Chapter 2

Main article: Part 2 EX Chapter 2

Senadina recounts herself, Nahralab, and Litost traveling from Laquadar to Mars.[21] Later, a resident of Ruimu tells Leylah that he was considering selecting a new Shadow Knight for her by initiating the Ten Shus War.[22]

    Part 2 Chapter IX

Main article: Part 2 Chapter IX

Litost is mentioned various times throughout Part 2 Chapter IX. For example, Nahralab reveals that Litost was the one who founded the "Realm of Crystallized Memories". She says he had begged her to arouse the wills of those who died in the Ten Shus Wars and to gift them immortality there, but she hadn't seen him since the thirty-third championship.[11]

    Part 2 Chapter X

Main article: Part 2 Chapter X

Two instances describe Litost as the captain of the Sea of Data Research Institute, where his job involves fighting off monsters that emerge from rifts in the Sea of Data[14] and defending its borders.[23]

    Personality

Litost is regarded as kind,[11] yet rather emotionally removed, refusing to make unnecessary attachments.[6] He is also determined, having spent his lifetime focusing on his mission to be forgotten after death.[12] He is also perceived as stubborn as a result.[24]

    Trivia

    • He shares his Japanese voice actor with Duonigue and Ben Bigger from Zenless Zone Zero.

Litost: ... Senadina. I must remind you that you are too emotionally invested. For our mission, this is an unnecessary attachment.
Senadina: Unnecessary... is it? Litost, do you remember why our planet ultimately perished?
    7. 7.0 7.1 Part 2 Chapter IX, I Am Permanence
???: Shall we depart, Senadina? Litost and the others are ready.
      [...]
Senadina: Give me just a little more time, Nana. I want to take one last look at my home—Laquadar, forever changed and scarred by war.
    8. Part 2 Chapter I, The Evil Inside
Perception: You can think of it as Litost's pet, I guess? Although it was originally created by shadows, it always acted according to Litost's will.
    9. Part 2 Chapter I, Street of Stories
Songque: But Duonigue didn't even show up on the day Litost died, and no one knew where it went.
      Songque: It just disappeared.
Songque: Even the next day, Duonigue acted as if nothing had happened. It didn't even mention Litost, its former master.
    10. Part 2 Chapter V, Fate Is Unpredictable
Bailing: You and my brother are really close, huh? Are you friends?
Litost: Friends... huh. I've never really thought about it, but... maybe we are.

Coralie: This place connects to Leylah's tower? Whoa, so my consciousness really is still in the Dreamseeker System.
Nahralab: It was Litost who found this place first. He said little Leylah refuses to choose a new knight. But if the champions of Ten Shus Wars were to die in the tower over that, it'd be ridiculous. He begged me to arouse the champions' will to live and grant them immortality.
Nahralab: Still the same old Litost — too kind for his own good. Because of our camaraderie, and for Senadina's sake, I agreed.
      [...]
Nahralab: Yes. But I never saw the thirty-third champion in time, and I haven't heard Litost's footsteps in ages. That's not like him. He never misses a chance to annoy me.

???: Litost the Shu of Sacrifice passed away ages ago.
???: He spent his entire life trying to make his life one that left no trace... but I'm still here.
???: People say that he cleans up any of his traces no matter what.
???: In that era, people couldn't find a shred of evidence of his existence, even though many had heard of his name.
    13. Part 2 Chapter XIII, A White Bird Flying Towards Tomorrow
Vita: Well, who can blame her? The Nahralab and Litost from true history are dead, after all. As for Serapeum... even if Leylah dared to open up, would Serapeum dare to respond? She'd probably be torn apart by Leylah's gravity before she could even get a few words out.
    14. 14.0 14.1 14.2 Part 2 Chapter X, The Resting Hour of a God
Helia: Anyway, in Difeng, corruption rifts are small-scale anomalies that appear irregularly but inevitably. That's why the Difeng people built the Sea of Data Research Institute, trying to find ways to seal them.
DreamseekerDreamseeker: Sea of Data Research Institute... sounds exactly like the Oxia Data Research Institute.
Coralie: Ding-dong, Nahralab-sourced gossip incoming. The Institute can't actually resolve anomalies. The job of fighting the monsters from the rifts goes to Captain Litost!
    15. Part 2 Chapter I, The Evil Inside
Perception: Precisely speaking, this is Amber Street from a hundred years ago, but we haven't traversed through time.
      [...]
Perception: Well, perhaps you've never heard of the Amber Street Great Panic, but for the man I'm thinking of, it was a great achievement no doubt.
Perception: Don't worry; this is just a fleeting resurgence. Even if we sit here doing nothing, the memories will disperse on their own.
Perception: But if you're interested, feel free to roam around and witness Litost's new approach to exorcism that'll happen at a certain point in time.
      [...]
Perception: Remember the ten manifestations I mentioned—various calamities that come with shadows? The Amber Street Great Panic was one of them.
Perception: Although later categorized as one of the Ten Faces of Misery, when it first appeared, it was unprecedented, and... there was no known way to resolve it.
    16. Part 2 Chapter I, The Evil Inside
Coralie: Since people's fear of Amber Street doesn't have an actual source, making it impossible to eliminate...
Coralie: Then, all you need to do is to provide a source.
Coralie: He killed everyone in Amber Street and used it as evidence...
Coralie: Claiming that everything was his doing. Right?
      [...]
Perception: Litost just changed the predetermined ending into a different form and... shifted all the fear of Amber Street onto himself.
Perception: Since then, he became the object of fear, and Amber Street gradually transformed into what you see today—isn't that a happy ending for everyone?
    17. Part 2 Chapter I, Street of Stories
Songque: Unlike other Shus, Litost has been dead for over a century, which is since the day Langqiu was separated from Oxia.
    18. Death's Trace
"After today, when this world splits in two, Litost will absorb all the fear he can contain within himself and die. The blood flowing within him at that moment will also turn into the pool water infused by the shadow of calamity, flowing through the lands of Langqiu."
"Through this, we can establish it as the foundation of the Ten Faces of Misery, and imprison the shadows within... or take them for ourselves."
    19. Part 2 Chapter I, Land of Shadows
Songque: Look, can you see that? Its full name is "Seven Posts of Transfixing Shadows", but don't get confused by all that. Basically, they're just a bunch of big ol' nails, and people just call them the "Seven Nails" for short.
    20. Part 2 Chapter I, Into Desolation
Coralie: The so-called Seven Nails and their functions... were they actually created by Litost's death?
Songque: Mhmm... That's pretty much correct
Songque: They aren't like real nails that pin Langqiu somewhere. Instead, using the power of the Shus, they nail the entire Pool of Shadows above Langqiu to counteract the Great Eruption and prevent the corruption of the Sea.
    21. Part 2 EX Chapter 2, The Most Important Person
Senadina: Once upon a time in a forest, there was a brave little deer. With its friends, it set off on a journey like no other.
Senadina: They said a reluctant goodbye to the forest they once called home and flew toward a distant, unfamiliar sky.
Senadina: They crossed mountains, walked through valleys, and sailed across seas. Finally, at the edge of the world, they found another forest, full of life.
    22. Part 2 EX Chapter 2, The Most Important Person
Eleanora: No, Litost was discussing selecting a shadow knight for you...
Leylah: Could it be the "Ten Shus War" he always talks about?
Eleanora: Yes, Ruimu is currently preparing to build the arena stage, and Lord Litost has already finalized the candidates for the Ten Shus.
    23. Part 2 Chapter X, The Resting Hour of a God
Nahralab: You're right. Hmm... Who should I hand this task to? Senadina is busy enough, and Litost is handling matters at the border personally. I can barely catch a glimpse of him...
    24. Part 2 Chapter II, Starless Journey
DreamseekerDreamseeker: Judging from the example of Litost, you could say stubbornness is a hallmark of Shus.
