Serapeum/Story
Last updated 2026-09-05
Serapeum is the owner of the Tombstone Library on Mars,[12] and is a part of the Seven Shus, titled the Shu of Union.[10]
Appearance
Serapeum is a young-looking girl with long grey hair and golden eyes. The back of her hair hangs freely, while the front ends of her hair are tied loosely with yellow and blue ribbons. On the top of her head lies a shining, golden circlet that attaches to a dark blue veil with gold details. She is dressed in a flowy, dark blue and white outfit that includes golden accessories and tassels. The sleeves and back of her top drape down to her ankles, leaving the front half of her legs exposed. She wears small, black and gold shorts and has a dark blue thigh-strap with gold that winds around her leg. Right under the thigh-strap, starting at slightly above her knee, are white boots with gold lines and accessories.
Story
Part 2 Chapter II
Serapeum was raised in a wealthy family. After mysteriously inheriting a fortune when she was young, she built the Tombstone Library to indulge in her interest in books. After having built the library, she filled it with many rare, wanted books. With this, Serapeum opened her library to everyone in Langqiu, until a century later when she closed it down to enter her slumber.[12] Serapeum has not physically left the library since the separation of Langqiu and Oxia and has instead used other bodies to venture out.[13]
Part 2 Chapter X
Serapeum is briefly mentioned when Dreamseeker, Erdős Helia, and Coralie 6626 Planck find an article of hers among other memorabilia at a competition in Difeng.[14] They instantly recognize it as her work and Coralie takes note of the characters in the article.[4]
Part 2 EX Chapter 4
Senadina tracks down a person who is scattering stage slips of paper.[15] While doing so, she calls out for Serapeum, calling her Luoxing's original moon.[16] After some additional shouting, Serapeum appears in front of Senadina.[17] Serapeum turns out to be the culprit of the notes, which were filled with people's inner voices, as her attempt to answer Senadina's previous assignment.[18] Serapeum goes on to say that Senadina gave her her name and the ability to sense others' emotions/inner voices, which inspired her to help others express their thoughts. However, she wasn't sure who to relay Senadina's inner voice to. As a result, Senadina agreed to keep the slips of papers secret and to instead trade thoughts with Serapeum herself, asking what was on Serapeum's mind.[19] Senadina then suggests that Serapeum writes her thoughts as a story.[20] Senadina brings up her ideal version of a library—a collection of countless inner voices—and offers for Serapeum to work with Nahralab to build it.[21] Then, as an apology, Serapeum decides to confess that the night was a perfect one for hugging.[22]
Personality
Serapeum is known to be the gentlest of all the Seven Shus.[1] She is also rather introverted, preferring reading books to attending gatherings or parties. Despite her liking for being alone, she let those who also had an interest in books enter her personal library.[12] Alongside this, Serapeum has also used her ways with the shadows to link her mind to others, effectively "unionizing" with them.[23] However, she has never forced anyone to unionize with her, with everyone having done so willingly.[24]
Serapeum's interest in books comes from her belief that they serve as windows to the world. Her wish to unionize with others is because she hopes that people's inner selves are similar to books.[25]

- Senadina: Is this the entrance to the library?
- Songque: Yep. Although it's called a library, it's actually Sera's home... Money talks, huh? Being able to build a house like this a century ago speaks for her family's wealth.
- Coralie: So, the person we're about to visit is a noble heiress?
- Songque: Well, not exactly. See, Sera's a bit of an enigma. She inherited a massive fortune at a young age, but nobody knows what happened for sure.
- Songque: She's not into fancy social gatherings or parties. Nope, her idea of a good time is curling up with a good book.
- Songque: To indulge her passion, she sold off most of her inheritance and built this place from the ground up. She's got rare books sought from all over stashed inside.
- DreamseekerDreamseeker: So, basically, this whole library is her personal sanctuary?
- Songque: Not exactly. Sera opened up her house to all the Langqiu residents way back when. Anyone who wanted to read a book could swing by.

- Songque: But hey, that was like a century ago. Sera shut down the library before she went into her deep sleep, and since then, it's been gathering dust.

- Senadina: Remember that library I told you about? My ideal library is a collection of countless inner voices. It lets people listen to the questions in their hearts, feel the confusion those questions bring, and finally work out the answers on their own.
- Senadina: There, you'll hear the inner voices of the authors, the inner voices of the readers resonating with the books, and even... the voices of the books themselves.
- Senadina: I've already got it all planned out! I'm going to put Nana in charge of building the library. That way, she'll have to get off the couch and out of the house. Little Sera, if you're interested, you can work with her too!

- Songque: Sera has always hoped that people's inner worlds could be as easy to grasp as the pages of a book. It's no wonder she's particularly intrigued by this legend.
