Welt Joyce
Last updated 2026-08-04
Welt Joyce was the first Herrscher of Reason of the Current Era and Welt Yang's hero.[3]
He was one of the founders of Anti-Entropy alongside Lieserl Albert Einstein, Frederica Nikola Tesla, and Emma Planck. His first and last name were given to him by Einstein[1] and Tesla respectively.
Appearance
Welt Joyce is a young man[8] with blue hair,[3] blue eyes and fair skin. He may be of East Asian descent, as when Schicksal attempted to discover his origins, they considered that he may have came from Japan due to his habits.[9]
Story
A man of unknown origins, Welt Joyce was both the cause of and sole survivor of the Honkai disaster that destroyed Berlin in 1952.[2] He suffered from amnesia and knew nothing of his past, but was fluent in German, English, Russian, Latin, Japanese, and Chinese.[10]
After Berlin, he was captured by Schicksal and given the code name of Ω1. Schicksal unsuccessfully attempted to uncover his past and the secret behind his survival, performing painful experiments on him for three years.[2] The endless experiments caused him great physical and mental suffering, which was only alleviated by his correspondence with the mysterious "Clown α,"[11] an alias for Schicksal's Overseer, Otto Apocalypse. On October 20, 1955, he was transferred to the Imperial Research Institute Lab 42 in London,[12] where he came to work with Einstein and Tesla.[6]
Personality
Trivia
- The name "Welt" was given to him by Lieserl Albert Einstein because he didn't have a real name. She gave him the name "Welt," as, in his code name "Ω1," a lowercase Ω (ω) looks similar to "W," and the German "welt" means "world".[1]
- On 21/10/1950, he received his fake family name "Joyce" from Einstein (on his passport). This was a reference to James Joyce, the author of Ulysses.
- Welt Joyce can speak German, English, Russian, Latin, Japanese, and Chinese.[10]
- In Anti-Entropy (Visual Novel), Welt Joyce recalls a lot of references from many literary works, especially Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. This is because, during his three years of being experimented on, Otto gave him a lot of books to read.
- The original Welt Joyce died from an injury and gave his Herrscher core to the only compatible individual nearby, the young Joachim Nokianvirtanen, who took the name Welt Yang to carry his predecessor's legacy.
- In the "Houkai Classroom" comic, Bronya gave the name of Welt ① and ②. The name 'Welt' then became a unit of measurement for combat power in the world of Houkai. It is said that the strength of Fu Hua, who is not wearing thigh socks, is equal to 10 Welt.[citation needed]

- He could still remember how to speak — yet he didn't know whether this was something he should be grateful for. German, English, Russian, Latin ... even Japanese and Chinese. He couldn't remember how he came to understand so many languages.
